Brownie Caramel Layer Bars

Total Time: 45 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 25 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 24
  • 1 (14 ounce) package kraft caramels
  • 1/3 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 (18 ounce) package german chocolate cake mix
  • 3/4 cup melted butter
  • 1/3 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 cup chopped pecans or 1 cup walnuts
  • 6 ounces chocolate chips

Recipe

  • 1 combine caramels and the first 1/3 cup evaporated milk.
  • 2 cook over low heat until melted.
  • 3 grease and flour 13x9 inch pan.
  • 4 in a large bowl combine cake mix, butter, second 1/3 cup evaporated milk, and nuts.
  • 5 stir until dough holds together.
  • 6 press half of the dough on the bottom of the pan, bake for 6 min at 350 degrees.
  • 7 sprinkle chocolate chips over crust.
  • 8 spread caramel over crust.
  • 9 press the last half of cake mixture gently on top of the caramel.
  • 10 bake for 15-18 minute.
  • 11 cool slightly and refrigerate.
  • 12 cut into squares and serve with cool, creamy milk!
