Apple Upside Down Cake

Total Time: 1 hr Preparation Time: 30 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • 2 granny smith apples, peeled cored & thin sliced
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh ground nutmeg
  • 1 (18 ounce) box yellow cake mix
  • 3 eggs (or as called for by your cake mix)
  • 1/3 cup oil (or as called for by your cake mix)
  • 1 1/3 cups water (or as called for by your cake mix)

Recipe

  • 1 put lemon juice in bottom of double boiler with 1& 1/2 cups water put apples in to soak.
  • 2 mix brown sugar, cinammon & nutmeg together & set aside.
  • 3 in 2- 9" cake pans melt 1/2 stick butter in each.
  • 4 transfer apples to top of double boiler, bring to boil & set aside.
  • 5 divide brown sugar mixture between cake pans.
  • 6 layer apple slices on top of brown sugar.
  • 7 prepair cake mix as directed on box & divide in cake pans.
  • 8 bake at 375f for 28-30 minute cool on wire rack 10 minute.
  • 9 turn out on cake plate & enjoy.
