Apple Upside Down Cake

Ingredients
- 2 granny smith apples, peeled cored & thin sliced
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon fresh ground nutmeg
- 1 (18 ounce) box yellow cake mix
- 3 eggs (or as called for by your cake mix)
- 1/3 cup oil (or as called for by your cake mix)
- 1 1/3 cups water (or as called for by your cake mix)
Recipe
- 1 put lemon juice in bottom of double boiler with 1& 1/2 cups water put apples in to soak.
- 2 mix brown sugar, cinammon & nutmeg together & set aside.
- 3 in 2- 9" cake pans melt 1/2 stick butter in each.
- 4 transfer apples to top of double boiler, bring to boil & set aside.
- 5 divide brown sugar mixture between cake pans.
- 6 layer apple slices on top of brown sugar.
- 7 prepair cake mix as directed on box & divide in cake pans.
- 8 bake at 375f for 28-30 minute cool on wire rack 10 minute.
- 9 turn out on cake plate & enjoy.
