B's Best Chocolate Cake Ever!

Total Time: 1 hr 35 mins Preparation Time: 1 hr Cook Time: 35 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup cocoa (i prefer hershey's)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 lb confectioners' sugar (4 cups)
  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 5 tablespoons milk

Recipe

  • 1 cake.
  • 2 preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • 3 grease and flour two 9" round pans.
  • 4 combine dry ingredients in large bowl.
  • 5 add oil, milk, eggs and vanilla.
  • 6 beat for two minutes on medium speed.
  • 7 gently stir in boiling water.
  • 8 pour thin batter into pans.
  • 9 bake for 35 minutes.
  • 10 cool for 10 minutes and then transfer to a wire rack.
  • 11 frost when completely cool.
  • 12 icing.
  • 13 to prepare chocolate icing: combine confectioners' sugar, remaining butter, vanilla, cocoa, salt, and milk in top of double boiler over simmering water; stir until smooth.
  • 14 frost and fill cake.
