Aunt Claire's Cornbread

Ingredients
- 1 cup flour
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups cornmeal
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup milk
Recipe
- 1 preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- 2 mix flour, baking powder, salt, and corn meal together; set aside.
- 3 in a second bowl, mix together the oil, sugar, eggs and milk.
- 4 pour the liquid mixture into the dry mixture and beat together.
- 5 you may need to add a bit more milk - it should be the consistency of cake batter.
- 6 pour into a greased and floured 9 inch square pan.
- 7 bake for 35 to 40 minutes.
- 8 if you would like to add chopped jalapenos or cheese, i would suggest decreasing the amount of sugar, as this does make a pretty sweet bread, and i don't think it would be suitable flavour with heat!
