Apple Torte

Ingredients
- Servings: 6
- 1/2 cup sweet creamy butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3 medium apples, peeled,cored and sliced into 1/4 inch wedges (i prefer granny smith)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- cinnamon-sugar mixture, for topping
Recipe
- 1 preheat the oven to 350°f.
- 2 grease a 9-inch springform pan.
- 3 add lemon juice and nutmeg to sliced apples, set aside.
- 4 cream the butter and the sugar until fluffy.
- 5 add the eggs and vanilla, mix well.
- 6 sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt, and add to batter.
- 7 spread the dough in the greased springform pan.
- 8 layer the apple slices over the dough in concentric circles, overlapping each row (i like to leave a small space between slices otherwise cake tends not to rise enough).
- 9 sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture generously over the top.
- 10 bake for 50 to 60 minutes until a tester inserted in the middle comes out clean.
