Chocolate Chip Pound Cake

Total Time: 1 hr 35 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 1 hr 15 mins

Ingredients

  • 6 tablespoons sugar
  • 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons water
  • 1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine, room temperature
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/8 teaspoon baking soda

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 350-degrees f.
  • 2 grease and flour 9x5-inch loaf pan.
  • 3 blend sugar and cocoa in saucepan.
  • 4 stir in water.
  • 5 simmer over med.
  • 6 -lowheat, stirring until smooth.
  • 7 simmer for 3 minutes.
  • 8 cool.
  • 9 cream butter or margaine in large bowl until fluffy.
  • 10 beat in sugar and eggs.
  • 11 blend in vanilla.
  • 12 sift flour, baking powder and salt.
  • 13 add sifted ingredients alternately with milk to creamed mixture.
  • 14 fold in chocolate chips.
  • 15 pour 1/3 of batter into pan.
  • 16 divide remaining batter in half.
  • 17 mix one portion (one half of remaining batter) into cocoa mixture with baking soda.
  • 18 spoon over batter in pan.
  • 19 top with remaining (1/3 of original batter) batter.
  • 20 bake for 65-75 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
