Buttermilk Cornbread

Total Time: 35 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 25 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder (heaping)
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda (rounded)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 cup buttermilk (may take a little more)
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons oil

Recipe

  • 1 preheat over to 425 degrees.
  • 2 put oil in skillet and heat while mixing cornbread.
  • 3 mix dry ingredients and form a well.
  • 4 add egg and beat in the well.
  • 5 add enough buttermilk to achieve near cake batter consistency. mix well. add heated oil. mix well.
  • 6 pour into hot skillet and bake for 20-25 minutes.
