Almond Tea Cake

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 4 eggs, separated
- 3 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 1/2 cup finely chopped almonds
- 2 tablespoons sugar
Recipe
- 1 cream butter and 1/2 cup sugar.
- 2 add egg yolks (well beaten), almond extract, and milk.
- 3 sift together and add flour and baking powder.
- 4 spread mixture in greased cake pan.
- 5 beat egg whites until stiff and gradually add 1/2 cup sugar.
- 6 fold in almonds.
- 7 spread meringue over cake mixture and sprinkle with sugar.
- 8 bake at 350°f for 30 minutes.
