Beer Spice Cake

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup beer
  • 1/2 cup walnuts

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 375 degrees f (190 degrees c).
  • 2 grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
  • 3 sift together flour, baking powder, cloves, cinnamon, allspice baking soda and salt.
  • 4 set aside.
  • 5 in a large bowl, cream the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  • 6 add egg and beat well.
  • 7 add flour mixture alternately with beer and mix well to combine.
  • 8 fold in the chopped walnuts.
  • 9 pour into a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
  • 10 bake at 375 degrees f for 40 to 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean.
