Buttercream Coffee Cake

- 1/3 cup butter 
 
- 1/2 cup butter 
 
- 2 1/4 cups sifted flour 
 
- 1/3 cup brown sugar 
 
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon 
 
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts 
 
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder 
 
- 3/4 teaspoon baking soda 
 
- 1/2 teaspoon salt 
 
- 2/3 cup sugar 
 
- 2 eggs 
 
- 1 cup sour cream 
 
- 1 teaspoon vanilla 
 
- 1/4 cup flour 
 
- 1/2 teaspoon salt 
 
- 1 cup milk 
 
- 2/3 cup butter 
 
- 1 cup sugar 
 
- 1 teaspoon vanilla 
 
Recipe
- 1 cut 1/3 cup butter into 3/4 cup flour, brown sugar and cinnamon till fine. 
 
- 2 stir in walnuts. 
 
- 3 sift 1 1/2 cups flour with baking powder, soda and salt. 
 
- 4 cream 1/2 cup butter in bowl; add sugar and cream till light. 
 
- 5 add eggs one at time, beating well; blend in vanilla. 
 
- 6 add dry ingredients alternately wit sour cream to creamed mixture. 
 
- 7 spread in 9x9-inch floured and greased pan. sprinkle with walnut mixture. bake at 325 for 50 minutes. 
 
- 8 when cool, split horizontally and fill with filling. store in refrigerator. 
 
- 9 for the buttercream filling: combine flour, salt salt and milk in saucepan. cook over low heat till thick, stirring constantly; cool.
