Buttercream Coffee Cake

Ingredients

  • Servings: 25
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 1/4 cups sifted flour
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2/3 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Recipe

  • 1 cut 1/3 cup butter into 3/4 cup flour, brown sugar and cinnamon till fine.
  • 2 stir in walnuts.
  • 3 sift 1 1/2 cups flour with baking powder, soda and salt.
  • 4 cream 1/2 cup butter in bowl; add sugar and cream till light.
  • 5 add eggs one at time, beating well; blend in vanilla.
  • 6 add dry ingredients alternately wit sour cream to creamed mixture.
  • 7 spread in 9x9-inch floured and greased pan. sprinkle with walnut mixture. bake at 325 for 50 minutes.
  • 8 when cool, split horizontally and fill with filling. store in refrigerator.
  • 9 for the buttercream filling: combine flour, salt salt and milk in saucepan. cook over low heat till thick, stirring constantly; cool.
  • 10 cream butter and sugar. add flour mixture and beat till fluffy.
