Buttercake

Total Time: 1 hr 5 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 45 mins

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 2/3 cup milk

Recipe

  • 1 1. preheat oven to 350*f. brush a 9-inch round cake pan with oil. line bottom with parchment paper.
  • 2 2. using electric beaters, beat butter & sugar in a small mixing bowl until light & creamy. add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. add vanilla; beat to combine.
  • 3 3. transfer mixture to a large bowl. using a metal spoon, fold in the sifted dry ingredients alternately with the milk. stir the mixture until just combined & almost smooth.
  • 4 4. spoon mixture into prepared pan; smooth surface.
  • 5 5. bake cake for 40 minutes or until skewer comes out clean. leave in pan for ten minutes, then turn onto wire rack to cool.
  • 6 note: the cake may need to be moistened with simple syrup. frost with your favorite icing.
